Ladies are consistently given less compensation on the grounds that there are various capabilities for ladies than men hands on showcase. As Professor Stokes stated, when a man has an image of his family around his work area he is seen as a steady man, when a ladies has an image around her work area, she is seen as putting her family first. It is genuinely hard to place ladies in a similar activity advertise as men with suspected examples like that are still near. What's more, as a result of that ladies are contin ually ending up working in a predetermined number of employments. I accept that the swarming hypothesis is a significant factor to why ladies are experiencing issues getting up to speed in the activity advertise. Since ladies are so bunched in not many occupations, for example nursing, deals, secretary, they are one might say driving their own wages down. SAT Tutoring Approaches with Karen
This week we're spotlighting Karen, who joined the Cambridge Coaching team in Boston in 2014 as an SAT/PSAT/SSAT, and science subject tutor. She's one of our Guru tutors with tons of teaching experience and who'ssure to give great advice on SAT tutoring approaches. Whatââ¬â¢s helpful about working with a private tutor for the SAT? I think a lot of students get lost in all of the test preparation for the SAT. Thereââ¬â¢s a lot to learn and itââ¬â¢shard to determine what to focus on. Many students spend countless hours doing preparation that theythink is useful, but in the end wonââ¬â¢t help their score that much. Working with a private tutor eliminatesthis overwhelming feeling and gets the student on track towards a better grade. Tutors have navigatedthis test so often that they can tell where a student needs extra work, as well as where the studentdoesnââ¬â¢t need to spend so much time. In the end, the student doesnââ¬â¢t waste time and gets the bestscore possible. Whatââ¬â¢s your overall philosophy to teaching the SAT? No student is the same. Beyond the obvious of one student understands verbal better than writing ormath or vice-versa, student simply learn the SAT differently. Take math for example: one student isbetter when simply memorizing formulas and when to use them whereas another student is betterwhen they understand where the formula comes from in order to apply it. A good tutor will quicklydetermine how the student learns and adapt the teaching methods to that style. Whatââ¬â¢s your approach to teaching the math section? The first step is finding how the student learns math. If it is memorizing equations, I set about detailingthe equations to memorize and when to apply them. If it is learning where the equations come from, Iwork with the student to see derivations of the equations so they can detect when it is useful to usethat equation. Itââ¬â¢s clear what sections of math a student needs to work on after they have completedpractice sections so I usually tailor the later sessions to working with them to make sure they arestrong in every type of math section. What are some common misconceptions about the SAT? The most common misconception about the SAT that Iââ¬â¢ve heard is that it is all memorization. Whilememorization plays a key role ââ¬â especially in vocabulary and some math equations ââ¬â there is a lot ofthinking that must happen on the test. It is possible to work out the answer to a math question if you donot know the equation, or a verbal question if you do not know the vocabulary word, and a tutor willteach the student these techniques. That is why it is so important to get a full nightââ¬â¢s sleep before theSAT ââ¬â so the mind is sharp. If a student leaves the SAT feeling mentally drained, then they did a goodjob! Whatââ¬â¢s the most common SAT fear you see among incoming students? The biggest fear I see is fear of the length of the test. This is most common with students who havetaken one diagnostic exam in test conditions and cannot imagine doing it again. However, the morefull-length practice tests the student completes, the more this fear goes away. In addition, the more thestudent learns the less challenging questions seem. If the student follows the tutorââ¬â¢s schedule, they willbe well conditioned to handle the length of the test mentally. What are the most common test strategy mistakes you see students making in their approach to thetest? The biggest strategy mistake I see is not skipping questions. Or, sometimes when the student hasnarrowed it down to two choices, they spend too much time narrowing down the final answer. Theconsequence of this is they donââ¬â¢t have time to finish the section. It is better to guess with a 50%chance of getting it right and being able to answer all the questions in the section. How do you accommodate different learning styles? Itââ¬â¢s actually much simpler than is expected to accommodate different learning styles. Itââ¬â¢s all in theemphasis of material. For those who memorize, the emphasis is on the vocabulary words, thegrammar rules, the math equations. For those who need context, the emphasis is on the roots ofwords, the meaning of the grammar rules, and the derivations of the equations. For any student that isin between these, the emphasis is alteredto how they learn. Other styles can be accommodated in thismanner as well by just shifting the emphasis. How do I get the most out of tutoring? To get the most out of tutoring, you have to trust the tutor. It seems simple, but many students donââ¬â¢ttrust that the tutor knows their schedule or how much work they actually need to do, so when the tutor assignsa certain amount of practice the student doesnââ¬â¢t complete it all. The best way to avoid this is to be upfront with the tutor in the beginning of the sessions about your schedule: do you play sports? When areyour big games? When are your midterms/major unit tests? Tutors will work around this schedule andfind the optimum amount of practice that not only will be necessary for the student to improve theirscore, but also wonââ¬â¢t overwhelm the student. Read Karen's tutor biography: Karen grew up in a small town in upstate New York. She graduated high school as a National AP Scholar after passing eleven AP exams with mostly 5ââ¬â¢s. At Clarkson University, she sought to improve life on campus as a resident advisor as well as a mentor and educator of first year students. She served as a tutor for the University Writing Center for three years and as a teaching assistant for Chemical Engineering Principles I. She was recognized for her impact on campus through her induction into Clarkson Universityââ¬â¢s highest honorary society, Phalanx. She is also a member of Tau Beta Pi, Phi Kappa Phi, Chi Epsilon, Omega Chi Epsilon, and Tau Chi Alpha. After graduating as a triple major (Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Political Science) with high distinction, she decided to test her skills in a city. She currently resides in Boston, attending graduate school at MIT in the Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering. Her GRE scores were 166 Verbal Reasoning and 170 Quantitative Reasoning. She enjoys tutoring students in math, science, engineering, and for tests such as the GRE and SAT. She uses her diverse background to make subject material understandable to any student. When not working, she enjoys running, hiking, and, like any small town girl, returning to her roots by listening to country music. Looking to work with our SATtutor Karen in Boston ? Harriet Tubmanrs Life - Free Essay Example
Author Catherine Clinton has an astounding way of giving a brief history on Harriet Tubman, the woman we call Moses in the book called The Road To Freedom. In reviewing the two book reviews written by History Professors John W. Quist and Oscar Cole-Arnal, I will be discussing the similarities about their views regarding this particular book and how she made an impact during the Civil War, and the Underground Railroad. Better known as Araminta Ross, which is her slave name, was born into bondage in Maryland. (Clinton, p. 4) She eventually changes her name to Harriet Tubman when she marries John Tubman who was a free slave. She assumed the name Harriet from her mother. In 1849, Harriet decided that she would escape slavery by traveling north to accept a new life of freedom. For over a decade, it is estimated that Harriet Tubman has assisted over 300 slaves obtain their freedom, many of which included family members. She saved her money by doing seasonal jobs to help fund her trips. During the Civil War, Harriet also became a nurse to aid wounded soldiers and refugees from slavery. As I continued to read the book reviews by these two professors, they both agreed that even though Harriet Tubman was illiterate, she knew how to communicate well with the slaves by singing melodies and words which involved secret codes that only the slaves would understand, (Quist, 2005 and Cole-Arnal, 2004) for which I found to be astonishing. Even though she depicted herself as an old woman, Harriet was in her 20s when she first started her expedition to help freed slaves. The author sets the tone that gives us just enough historical information about Harriet Tubmanrs private life as a unique and inspirational figure who fought for the rights of free slavery through her trials and tribulations as she faced being once a slave herself. It is also well documented that she had never lost a slave during her travels through the Underground Railroad to freedom. Clintonrs interpretation on slavery in her book recognizes the rise of the civil rights movement for both African-American men and women. Harriet Tubman played a vital role for feminism, as well as racism. Both authors mainly emphasized on the positive and negatives of slavery of this courageous and mythological figure in history. We have come to know that Harriet Tubmanrs life was a struggle for cultural and political awareness of the mistreatment of slaves. Her book made it easy to read and understand how much she was a phenomenal woman with great bravery and power to overcome these obstacles both mentally and spiritually.

Computers Are Becoming The Way Of The Future - 1508 Words
Computers and technology seem to fascinate many people, so it should come as no surprise that there are many occupations that involve computers and technology. Computers are everywhere, even in places that most do not think. Most people who are asked how many computers they have in their house would give an incorrect answer. Many just state how many actual computers they have, not realizing that computers are in a lot of devices in their home. There are hundreds, maybe even thousands of computers in the average house. From a microwave to a clock to an actual computer, there are many computers in which people possess in their homes. Computers are becoming the way of the future, so it is very important that many people are employed inâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Our family had two computers in our house at the time, one old desktop and one laptop, and I thoroughly enjoyed playing on both of them. There was something about having the freedom of playing many different games and taking part in things that one would never be able to do in real life. One of my favorite games was Zoo Tycoon, which is a zoo management, simulation game. I remember thinking about that game all the time, acting as if I were one of the animals at recess or in school. The freedom of letting my creativity run wild on the computer was something that I really enjoyed; furthermore, what kid does not love animals and dinosaurs? Being able to control my own virtual zoo was a truly amazing experience. My interest in computers increased as I grew up, exploring more and more about what I could do with a computer. I went from playing computer games, to installing and exploring new software, to actually programming computers. It was truly fascinating when I would learn new things that a computer was capable of executing. My interest in computers became very serious when, about a year ago, our family was cleaning our house and we came across an old computer. We were just going to throw it away, when I decided that I wanted to take it apart to see how everything works inside of it. This was an eye-opening experience for me because it allowed me to gain a deeper
